The Ministry of Sports is checking the amateur league after injuries during matches in Nizhny Novgorod.

      March 20, 2026 09:27 Sports The Ministry of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has begun an internal investigation following two serious injuries that occurred during matches of the amateur football league. This was reported by Sports Minister Dmitry Kabailo on his Telegram channel. According to him, the agency is receiving a large number of complaints from competition participants. People point out that there is no proper medical support at the games. "Doctors must be present at all sporting events. Their presence is the responsibility of the organizers, which cannot be ignored. We have already contacted the league leader. We are conducting an internal investigation," Kabailo emphasized. If violations are identified and the organizers refuse to rectify them before the next matches, the region may deny the provision of a venue for the games. Additionally, an unscheduled meeting with representatives of the federations is planned in the near future, where the organizers will be reminded of their responsibilities once again. The minister emphasized that even if the tournament is not official and not included in the Ministry of Sports' calendar, as in the case of the amateur football league, the safety of participants must be ensured at the highest level. The head of the agency also reported that he is in contact with the mother of the photographer girl who was injured during one of the matches. The family has already received assistance and is ready to provide additional help if needed. They also plan to contact the injured football player. Both situations are under control. Recall that on March 15, at the "Severny" stadium in the Avtozavodsky district, during a game, one of the football players collided with a girl who was at the edge of the field filming the match.
