      The Ministry of Transport of the Nizhny Novgorod region has published a draft amendment to the regional law on the organization of passenger and luggage transportation by taxi. The document provides for the introduction of mandatory requirements for the color scheme of taxi vehicles. It is noted that the need for amendments is related to the fact that there are currently no regional requirements for taxi colors, although they are stipulated in federal legislation. The ministry emphasizes that a unified color scheme will make it easier to distinguish official taxis in the general flow of traffic.

      The draft law proposes to stipulate that the body of the taxi must be painted orange — similar to that used for buses. An exception will be made for business class vehicles: they will be allowed to be black.

      At the same time, the new requirements will not affect vehicles that have already received permits for transportation. The document is issued for five years. However, after its expiration, owners will have to bring the color of the vehicle in line with the new standards.

      Currently, there are 21,616 passenger taxis registered in the region.

      It was previously reported that starting from March 1, only localized vehicles are allowed to be used as taxis in Russia.
