      A Nizhny Novgorod bartender fell into debt after dictating a code from a message to an unknown person.

      According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the 22-year-old man was convinced he was communicating in a messenger with an employee of the Federal Tax Service.

      The interlocutor told the young man that it was necessary to confirm a certain letter allegedly for the payment of a tax and asked him to dictate the code from the message.

      Soon the man began receiving calls from fake employees of government services, a bank, and law enforcement agencies.

      The callers, under the pretext of cancelling a suspicious transaction, persuaded the Nizhny Novgorod resident to take out loans totaling 526,000 rubles and transfer the money to the specified phone numbers.

      A criminal case has been opened by the police.
