      Nizhny Novgorod's V.P. Chkalov International Airport summed up its performance during the New Year holidays.

      According to the airport's press service, from December 31 to January 11 the airport handled more than 36,000 passengers. During that time 347 takeoffs and landings were carried out.

      The bulk of the traffic consisted of travelers choosing domestic routes — about 29,000 people. Flights to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi and Yekaterinburg were most in demand among Nizhny Novgorod residents.

      Among international destinations, Sharm El Sheikh and Tashkent led.

      January 5 was the peak day for the number of flights and passengers served. On that day 4,700 people passed through the airport and 47 flights were operated.

      Recall that during the New Year holidays residents of Nizhny Novgorod could fly to 16 different destinations in total.

      Earlier it was reported that the first aircraft to land at Nizhny Novgorod's "Chkalov" airport in 2026 arrived from Sochi.
