Innovators from Nizhny Novgorod can receive up to 5 million rubles for projects

      Nizhny Novgorod innovative companies are invited to participate in three grant programs of the Foundation for Assistance to Innovations (FSI). As of today, applications are open for the “Start–Artificial Intelligence‑1” and “Start–Digital Technologies‑1” contests within the federal project “Domestic Solutions” of the national project “Data Economy,” as well as “Start–Machine Tool Building‑1” within the federal project “Development of the Machine-Tool and Tool Industry” of the national project “Means of Production and Automation.”

      The “Start‑AI‑1” competition is aimed at supporting small enterprises developing products, services and solutions using artificial intelligence technologies. The “Start‑DT‑1” competition is intended to support small enterprises creating, implementing and commercializing Russian digital solutions in priority areas. The programs have been in operation since 2021.

      The “Start–Machine Tool Building‑1” competition has been held since 2025. It provides grant support to small enterprises and startups for conducting research and development (R&D) when developing new models of machine-tool and tooling products.

      Specialists from the regional FSI representative office — the Ankudinovka technopark — help participants choose the appropriate competition and prepare their applications. Experts support teams at all stages of the project, providing consulting and organizational assistance.

      “The grant programs of the Foundation for Assistance to Innovations remain one of the key tools for supporting tech business in the region. In total, under the ‘Start‑AI‑1’, ‘Start‑DT‑1’ and ‘Start–Machine Tool Building‑1’ contests, 28 Nizhny Novgorod companies have already attracted 103 million rubles for the development of promising technology projects aimed at implementing domestic solutions and strengthening the region’s industrial and digital potential,” noted Maxim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Applications for the “Start–Artificial Intelligence‑1” contest can be submitted until February 9, 2026; for “Start–Digital Technologies‑1” and “Start–Machine Tool Building‑1” — until February 24, 2026. The maximum grant amount in each of the three contests is 5 million rubles.

      “Support from the Foundation for Assistance to Innovations allows tech teams not to postpone project development and to move faster toward creating in-demand solutions. For many developers, this is an opportunity to test an idea in real conditions and lay the foundation for further growth,” said Timur Radaev, director of the Ankudinovka technopark.

      According to the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the national project “Effective and Competitive Economy” will become the main tool for forming a new growth model. It includes federal projects aimed at developing small and medium-sized enterprises, increasing labor productivity, boosting investment activity, low-carbon development and developing the state system of statistics and forecasting. One of the main points of the national project “Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship” was creating conditions for an easy start and comfortable business operations. Work to support entrepreneurs in this direction will continue this year within the national project “Effective and Competitive Economy.”
