      When riding down hills on tubes, safety precautions should be observed to avoid injuries. The Nizhny Novgorod Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Department said this, recommending that people choose only prepared and checked runs for riding.

      "To ensure that sledding down a hill brings only joy, you need to be careful when choosing a run. It should be free of trees, bushes, and stones, and the run itself should allow for prolonged braking at the end of the descent and not lead onto a roadway. It is important to observe order and maintain distance so as not to accidentally hit or injure anyone during the descent," said Mikhail Baranov, head of the Nizhny Novgorod Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Department.

      When riding on "vatrushkas" (snow tubes) and plastic sleds (ledyanki):

      - do not overload the tube. The specifications of each model indicate the maximum allowable weight. It is dangerous for several people to sit on a tube at once — they can be thrown out;

      - there should be enough space at the bottom of the slope for braking;

      - before starting a run, inspect the track: there should be no pits, bumps, protruding bushes, or stones. They can seriously damage the tube by puncturing or tearing it;

      - before beginning the descent, make sure there is no one in front of you, especially children;

      - refuse to ride while under the influence of alcohol;

      - ride while sitting; do not try to stand up or jump like on a trampoline;

      - do not tie inflatable sleds to vehicles: snowmobiles, cars, etc.

      What is prohibited during riding:

      - descending from ramps, icy or snowless sections of the slope;

      - riding standing up, lying down, or trying to jump out while moving;

      - running before the descent;

      - attaching tubes to each other in a "train" — they can overturn;

      - tying sleds to cars, snowmobiles, or other vehicles;

      - connecting several sleds together.

      Safety techniques when riding on tubes:

      - the most important thing is to hold on to the tube handles. Inflatable tubes with a diameter of less than 115 cm should have two handles; larger ones should have four to six. This is necessary so that you can hold on comfortably depending on the chosen position;

      - choose a tube according to the specific person, their parameters and dimensions. Tubes that are too large or too small with an uncomfortable seat can increase the risk of injury;

      - for safe riding, settle comfortably on the seat; it should be wide and fit the individual;

      - during sliding, the head should be slightly tilted forward and the feet should not touch the ground. Hold the handles tightly to avoid being thrown out of the tube;

      - during braking you should not use your hands and feet; it is better to turn the tube to avoid a collision or flip it to avoid breaking limbs.
