The Ministry of Property of the Nizhny Novgorod Region is expropriating three land plots from private individuals on the territory of TOO "Ovoshi" in the Balakhna District to implement the second stage of construction of the Shopsha — Ivanovo — Nizhny Novgorod bypass. The corresponding order was published on the agency's official website.

The area of the plots ranges from 914 to 1,011 square meters. They are all classified as agricultural land with permitted use for dacha gardening.

The initiator of the expropriation was the Main Directorate of Highways of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Owners will be offered monetary compensation. If they refuse to transfer the plots voluntarily, the authorities intend to go to court.

To complete the entire bypass, another 24.6 km of roadway is needed, including seven bridges. The bypass construction project received a positive state expert review in 2020. In 2023, the Nizhny Novgorod Region applied for a federal grant of 22.06 billion rubles; work was planned to begin in 2024.

The total cost of constructing the Balakhna bypass has risen to 30 billion rubles. Currently the authorities are considering attracting private investors to implement the project.

Earlier it was reported that 1.1 billion rubles is being allocated for the reconstruction of Ilinka and Plotnichny Lane in Nizhny Novgorod.
