The resumption of Sapsan high-speed train services on the Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod route is not being considered for now. This was reported on 20 November during a meeting of the Transport and Communications Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" reports.
As Deputy Director of the Gorky Railway Vladimir Tyulenev said, at present all Sapsan trains are operating on the line between Moscow and St. Petersburg.
"On this section trains can reach speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour. On the route to Nizhny Novgorod such conditions are not yet provided," he explained.
Tyulenev also reminded that from 3 December new double-decker Burevestnik trains will begin running between Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow. They will depart three times a day and, according to the deputy head of the Gorky Railway, will become an alternative to the Sapsans on this route.
In July 2025 it was reported that Sapsans could again be launched on the Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod route.
