According to VTB, the average balance of available funds on the bank's clients' cards is 52,300 rubles. Compared with last year, the figure has slightly decreased due to interest in savings products. At the same time, clients keep an "untouchable" amount, receiving cashback even on balances in current accounts.
The trend in available funds differs by generation. Among Zoomers the average card balance increased by 26% year-on-year, to 15,300 rubles. Among Baby Boomers the average amount on their cards reached 81,300 rubles, 1% more than a year earlier. Generation X reduced the average amount on cards by 4%, to 52,800 rubles, while among Millennials the decrease was 1.7%, to 38,400 rubles.
Meanwhile, the average balance on VTB clients' cards remains stable. This is partly supported by the option to receive additional cashback categories for keeping funds in card accounts, which was launched at the end of last year. The number of clients who become active participants in the loyalty program increased by 5%.
Thanks to the new option, the average number of active cashback categories per client rose from 3 to 5. The most popular additional categories were pharmacies, gas stations, the universal "for all purchases" category, books and stationery, toll roads and supermarkets. These cashback categories are most often activated in Moscow and the Moscow Region, Saint Petersburg, Altai Krai, the Chuvash Republic and Novosibirsk Oblast.
