VTB: Gold will remain a safe-haven asset in 2025
VTB My Investments experts at the “Russia Calls! Krasnodar” forum presented top ideas for private investors through the end of the year. According to analysts, growth potential remains not only for bonds but also for the Russian stock market: the MOEX index could reach 3,660 points by the end of 2026, corresponding to an increase of about 44%. The main focus is on maintaining a share in domestically oriented stocks and adding exporter shares, for example, in non‑ferrous metallurgy.
VTB My Investments Managing Director Maxim Perlin noted that quasi‑currency instruments deserve attention for portfolio diversification.
“The ruble is currently somewhat overstrengthened, so it makes sense to have a share of quasi‑currency papers — primarily replacement Ministry of Finance bonds. This market, despite its youth, has become one of the most liquid,” he emphasized.
The experts also added that gold will remain among defensive assets until the end of the year: it benefits from central bank purchases.
Krasnodar hosted the VTB “RUSSIA CALLS!” investment forum for the first time. The event also took place on September 24 in St. Petersburg, October 7 in Yekaterinburg, and October 28 in Kazan. The forum will conclude with a two‑day event in Moscow on December 2–3 (18+).
