The person responsible for the fatal crash on Lenin Avenue will be sentenced in Nizhny Novgorod.
14 November 2025 11:03 Incidents — The investigation into the criminal case of a fatal road traffic accident in Nizhny Novgorod, in which a pedestrian died, has been completed, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.
Recall that the accident occurred on the morning of 20 July 2025 on Lenin Avenue in Nizhny Novgorod. According to the investigation, a 26-year-old man, while intoxicated, was driving a rented CHERY TIGGO 7 PRO. Driving at excessive speed, he entered the oncoming lane and then drove onto the sidewalk. While on the sidewalk and the carriageway of the avenue’s service road, the car struck a 35-year-old pedestrian. The victim died at the scene from his injuries.
The driver was charged and a criminal case was opened for a traffic violation that negligently caused a person’s death. He was held in custody during the investigation.
The investigation is now complete. The criminal case has been transferred to the Leninsky District Court for further consideration.
Under the law, such a crime is punishable by up to 12 years in prison and a ban on certain types of activity for up to three years.
