More than six tons of unlabeled fish worth 3.5 million rubles were seized in Chkalovsk.
13 November 2025 18:47 Incidents. In Chkalovsk, police officers disrupted a large distribution channel for unmarked dried fish. The illegal goods were stored directly in the garage of a 51-year-old local entrepreneur, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.
Inside the premises, operatives discovered substantial stocks:
- 272 boxes of dried sinets (2,153.86 kg),
- 354 boxes of dried vobla (1,781.76 kg),
- 295 boxes of dried roach (2,349.42 kg),
- 43 boxes of dried peled (119.92 kg),
- 20 boxes of dried chekhon (160.6 kg).
The total weight of the products exceeded six tonnes, and the market value is estimated at more than 3.5 million rubles.
It turned out that the businessman intended to sell the fish to other individual entrepreneurs in Zavolzhye and the Semyonovsky District. However, he was unable to carry out his plan—the entire consignment was seized by the police.
The man has been charged with trafficking unmarked products on a particularly large scale. He is currently under a written undertaking not to leave.
The accused has already admitted his guilt. The criminal case has been sent to court. If found guilty, he could face up to six years in prison and a fine of up to one million rubles.
Earlier it was reported that the volume of fish catches increased by 51 tonnes in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
