In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the investigation into a criminal case against the former deputy head of the administration of the Perevozsky urban district has been completed. He is accused of negligence that led to a person’s death. The indictment was approved by the Arzamas city prosecutor’s office and the case forwarded to court, the press service of the supervisory authority reported.
The regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee recalled that the tragedy occurred on the morning of 28 May 2025 near an apartment building on 2nd Microdistrict Street in Perevoz. A tree fell on a 63-year-old man. He died of his injuries.
Investigators believe the cause of the incident was the official’s inaction. He failed to organize the work of the interdepartmental commission that was supposed to inspect the condition of green plantings in the district. As a result, hazardous trees were not identified in time.
The actions of the former deputy head of the administration show signs of the crime provided for in Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — negligence resulting in the inadvertent death of a person. The court will now decide the fate of the accused.
Earlier it was reported that a criminal case had been opened over a tree branch falling on a girl while she was walking in one of Nizhny Novgorod’s city parks.
