At Polyclinic No. 30 in Nizhny Novgorod, doctors were able to promptly diagnose a stroke in an elderly patient who believed she had a toothache.
According to Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of the MIA "Stacionar‑press", the 80-year-old woman sought medical attention complaining of numbness in her cheek. She was convinced the ailment was due to dental problems.
However, the on-duty therapists suspected it was not a dental issue. After an examination they concluded that the symptoms could indicate a cerebrovascular event and immediately referred the patient to the hospital.
In the hospital, the woman was confirmed to have an early-stage stroke. Facial numbness turned out to be its first sign.
Earlier it was reported that cancer was detected in a Nizhny Novgorod woman who had "tagged along" to a medical screening.
