The Minister of Digital Development and Communications of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Alexander Sinelobov, presented regional initiatives for the application of artificial intelligence in public administration at the All‑Russian forum "IT‑Dialogue", held in St. Petersburg. Among the implemented projects he highlighted the use of neural networks in the "Unified Center for Processing and Storage of Video Data of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" system, which helps monitor the fill levels of municipal solid waste containers. According to the minister, the introduction of the technology has halved the response time to overflowing bins.

Sinelobov emphasized that over the past two years artificial intelligence has become an important tool in the work of government bodies. He noted that AI not only automates routine processes but also speeds up the provision of public services to residents. Currently, more than twenty AI‑based solutions have been implemented in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Neural networks assist in a wide range of areas: from ensuring public safety and processing citizens' requests to finding lost pets and analyzing medical images — CT and MRI. The minister noted that in each case AI provides accurate results in a short time and eases the workload of agency staff.

Also at the forum the minister spoke about a pilot project in which AI is used to monitor the condition of street and road infrastructure in Nizhny Novgorod and other municipalities. The system records the condition of road markings and signs, detects non‑functioning streetlights and road defects.

In addition, in the region neural networks are used to detect changes in forest areas, repel cyberattacks, analyze electronic medical records and for other tasks.

During the forum awards of the first National Professional Prize in the field of IT governance "ITD: Intelligence, Talent, Action" were presented. Alexander Sinelobov was awarded the prize in the category "High Efficiency of Digital Implementation".

More than two thousand industry specialists took part in "IT‑Dialogue", including heads of regional ministries of digital development and representatives of major companies. They discussed issues of cyber resilience, digitalization of municipalities, best practices for applying AI, as well as modern software and engineering solutions.

The development of AI‑based services is provided for in the new national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State".

It was previously reported that an AI assistant began advising users of the Nizhny Novgorod public services portal.
