Neural network "knitted" Nizhny Novgorod out of wool yarn
A video appeared on the internet in which the city is presented as cozy yarn — with soft streets, buildings and even clouds.
The new trend is spreading actively on social media. Users, using neural networks, create animations in which entire cities look knitted or felted from wool. Such videos are reminiscent of old cartoons, when animation was made by hand, without computer graphics. The Nizhny Novgorod version was created by photographer Igor Ivanov. He posted the video on his social media accounts.
The footage shows the city's iconic sites: Dmitrievskaya Tower, the Kremlin, the cable car, Strelka, the stadium, Rozhdestvenskaya Street, the Nizhny Novgorod Fair, the Ferris wheel on Sennaya Square and the Chkalov Stairs.
Besides the well-known locations, the video includes touching details: tiny figures hurrying about their business, cars, drifting clouds, balloons and even "Valdais" passing by.
"I think many have already seen this trend with other cities. And, of course, I couldn't let Nizhny be left out. To be honest, I couldn't wait to see what our city would look like if it were knitted by a grandmother-urbanist. I didn't expect it to turn out so cozy," the author shared.
Earlier it was reported that the Nizhny Novgorod Fair was recreated in a popular online game.
