Specialists from the Rosselkhoznadzor administration for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mari El carried out four field inspections of livestock facilities using unmanned aerial vehicles. Its press service reported this.
The inspections took place in early November 2025 and were aimed at strengthening control over compliance with veterinary regulations and ensuring the region's biological safety.
The administration noted that the new approach makes it possible to tackle tasks that were previously difficult for traditional ground-based control, including remote inventorying of livestock and identifying unauthorized livestock waste burial sites. The use of drones also allows for effective assessment of the housing conditions of small ruminants, the sanitary condition of adjacent areas, and the detection of potential violations without interfering with farm operations. During the inspections, specialists conducted aerial photography of pastures, animal grazing areas and manure storage facilities, and also checked compliance with requirements for the disposal of biological waste.
As a result of the monitoring, four business entities were issued warnings about the inadmissibility of violating mandatory veterinary requirements.
It should be noted that UAVs are actively used in the region for aerial photography to obtain accurate data on land parcel boundaries, forest monitoring and other sectors.
