The society "United Russia" has launched an all-Russian charity campaign "Box of Courage." Gifts will be collected across the country for children undergoing long-term treatment in hospitals.

The initiative by the party's supporters will run until 2 December. The first gifts for young patients of medical institutions were handed over to the Central Executive Committee of "United Russia" by State Duma deputy, chair of the Central Council of the party’s supporters Olga Zanko and her colleague in the lower house of parliament, world boxing champion Nikolai Valuev.

"We are running this campaign for the thirteenth time. It supports young patients going through difficult and sometimes painful treatment. Even adults find this hard. For children it is a real feat. Every gift from the 'Box of Courage' helps them find the strength before a difficult medical procedure and reminds them that the world is full of kindness. We invite everyone to join," Olga Zanko said.

In turn, Nikolai Valuev added that children suffering from very serious, including oncological, diseases grow up very early.

"They face life-threatening illnesses that are extremely difficult and painful to fight, and this requires the utmost concentration of emotional and physical strength. First of all, I want to wish that this campaign helps them understand that they will not be left without attention. Attention, care, tenderness, and a kind word are very important to them. Often it is precisely this that can heal. I urge all concerned people to come to the United Russia party offices and make their contribution to this wonderful campaign," he said.

The campaign was supported by the deputy secretary of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the United Russia party, who oversees project activities and is chair of the local council of party supporters of the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, Mikhail Ivanov.

"I take part in the 'Box of Courage' campaign every year. Such initiatives help bring people together and make the world better. One of the party's most important tasks is to support good deeds. Participation in this campaign is especially dear to me because it allows me to make a personal contribution to the happiness of children. I often visit children's hospitals, bringing gifts to the kids from our supporters. It is incredibly moving to see them smile when they receive a simple toy. For these moments we try to do as much as possible. Our task is to surround them with care and attention," Mikhail Ivanov said.

Joining the start of the campaign were pediatric oncologist Kirill Kirgizov and Hero of the Donetsk People's Republic, commander of the international brigade "Pyatnashka" Akhra Avidzba.

Among the campaign’s partners is the Bolshoi Moscow Circus.

"This initiative brings together thousands of people across the country and gives hope to children going through difficult times. Our performers and staff are united by one goal—to give the little heroes a bit of warmth, a smile, and hope. We collect gifts, toys, construction sets, educational games—everything that can bring joy and inspiration. Each of us puts a piece of our soul into it. I would like to note that support for such an initiative from the United Russia party shows how important it is to join efforts for good. When performers, volunteers, doctors, and parents work together, good always wins," emphasized Edgard Zapashny, General Director of the Bolshoi Moscow Circus.

Gift collection is taking place in all regions of the country. Drop-off points are open in regional party offices, public support headquarters, shopping centers, and at the campaign's partner locations.

You can bring only new toys (except plush), stationery, books, coloring books, board games, and craft kits—all in factory packaging.

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the "Box of Courage" collection runs from 10 to 27 November.

Charitable donation drop-off points in Nizhny Novgorod:

      - Public Support Headquarters — Nizhny Novgorod, 2A Malaya Pokrovskaya St.

      - Regional Executive Committee of the United Russia party — Nizhny Novgorod, 10/16 Alekseevskaya St.

The list of collection points in municipal and city districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region is posted on the regional party branch’s website.

Last year more than 166,000 people took part in the campaign, and over 500,000 gifts were handed to children across Russia.

The final stage of the regional contest "Our Heroes" (0+) took place at the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The event, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, brought together the authors of the best works selected from two hundred submissions based on the preliminary stage. The competition, in which schoolchildren, students of secondary vocational and higher education institutions took part, was initiated by the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The key theme of the contest was preserving the living memory of local heroes and passing it from generation to generation. The young participants demonstrated different approaches to exploring this theme. Essays, poems, posters and videos were presented. A new approach to preserving historical memory was also exemplified by a project from RANEPA student Svetlana Makarova.

She developed a Telegram chat-bot, the "Encyclopedia 'Kstovo Heroes'," which allows users to learn about the biographies of 14 hometown heroes. The "Encyclopedia" contains a fighter’s biography, an account of the feat, a photograph and QR codes linking to archival documents. The project won in the student category.

"I thought it would be interesting to me and my peers. I researched where young people communicate most, what I usually use, and thought, why not put useful information there. We are used to receiving content quickly, so I tried to make the memory of our fellow townspeople's deeds accessible in one click," Svetlana said.

"Today we witnessed something more than just a contest. The performances of our finalists were filled with sincere, poignant emotions that left no one in the hall indifferent. The young people, with emotion and a lump in their throats, read their own poems, spoke about the heroes' feats and about their fates after the war. And in this lies the greatest value of our contest. When a young person with shining eyes tells the story of his family, it becomes clear: for him the Great Patriotic War is not dry lines in a textbook, but a personal history. It is this living memory, this connection between generations, that we strive to preserve today," noted Deputy and Head of the Legislative Assembly’s Office Maksim Rebrov.

Full information about the winners and prize-winners of the contest can be found on the website of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
