Regina Kuzovatova, a resident of the Nizhegorodsky District, was named Nizhny Novgorod’s Super-Grandmother 2025.

Regina Kuzovatova, a resident of the Nizhegorodsky District, was named Nizhny Novgorod’s Super-Grandmother 2025.

      The annual "Super-Grandma" contest was held in Nizhny Novgorod, with representatives of the silver generation from each district of the city taking part. The winner was Regina Kuzovatova, a resident of the Nizhegorodsky District. This was reported by the Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod administration.

      Eight women from Nizhny Novgorod who had won first place in the district stages took part in the contest final. They showcased their talents to the jury and audience, performed vocal and dance numbers, and answered questions in an intellectual quiz. According to Oksana Dektereva, director of the autonomous nonprofit organization "Public Self-Government of Nizhny Novgorod," over the four years the contest has existed, grandmothers aged from 57 to 75 have taken part. "The main criterion for us is having grandchildren. This year one of the contestants was Valentina Labutina — she has 14 grandchildren," she said.

      Artur Shtoyan, director of the city’s Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy, congratulated the contestants on their victories in various nominations. "Each year the contest, held with the support of the city head Yuri Shalabayev, draws many families who come to support their loved ones. For every family, grandmothers are the keepers of the hearth, a symbol of wisdom and tenderness. Such events help to feel unity, cohesion, and the love of generations," he shared, separately congratulating Regina Kuzovatova on the title "Super-Grandma of Nizhny Novgorod — 2025."

      The contest winner Regina Kuzovatova spoke about her hobbies in her "visiting card" presentation: at 57 she dances, sings, enjoys handicrafts and gardening. "For many years I worked as a primary school teacher at School No. 33, and now I teach at the House of Children's Creativity of the Nizhegorodsky District. I have two children and three wonderful grandchildren," she said.

      Another contestant, Galina Arutyunyan, who won the nomination "Most Charismatic Grandma of Nizhny Novgorod," noted that her relatives encouraged her to participate. "My children and grandchildren said they wanted to see me in a new light, to see what else I can do. Today my family, of course, came to support me, and even took part in a creative number with me," she added.

      Each contestant at the contest had her own devoted support group. "We always help each other and today in several numbers we will perform on stage together with our grandma. Such contests are great! The contestants and their close ones stick together!" shared the relatives of Elena Mityakova, who represented the Leninsky District and became "The Most Creative Grandma of Nizhny Novgorod."

      "I used to not know that there are such wonderful events for the older generation, and now I attend them every year. Such an atmosphere makes you feel young, shows that you can spend your retirement actively and not just sit on the couch," said Marianna Busalova, a participant of the district stage of the contest who came to cheer on her grandmother from the Sormovsky District, Vera Fedotova.

      To support the holder of the title "Most Radiant Grandma," Vera Fedotova, the winner of last year’s contest — Sormovsky District resident Tatyana Spiridonova — also came. "I still remember the excitement I felt when I was a participant in 'Super-Grandma-2024.' So now I am very interested to see the contest, to watch it as a spectator and a fan," she shared.

      At the contest, all participants became winners in different nominations:

      - The Most Versatile Grandma — Lyubov Abramova from the Soviet District;

      - The Most Charming Grandma — Valentina Labutina from the Kanavinsky District;

      - The Most Radiant Grandma — Vera Fedotova from the Sormovsky District;

      - The Most Joyful Grandma — Nadezhda Gladkova from the Avtozavodsky District;

      - The Most Artistic Grandma — Regina Kuzovatova from the Nizhegorodsky District;

      - The Most Charismatic Grandma — Galina Arutyunyan from the Prioksky District;

      - The Most Creative Grandma — Svetlana Karacharovo from the Moskovsky District;

      - The Most Inventive Grandma — Elena Mityakova from the Leninsky District.

      The event was organized by the ANO "Public Self-Government of Nizhny Novgorod" with the support of the city administration and the Nizhny Novgorod Women's Council.

      It should be recalled that in 2024 the title "Super-Grandma" was won by Sormovsky District resident Tatyana Spiridonova.
