In our society it is customary to believe that a man should be strong, self-confident and able to solve problems. However, this can lead men to hide their anxieties and difficulties. Psychologist Berezhnoy told 360.ru how you can tell if a man is depressed.

He noted that men used to rarely talk about their problems with depression and loneliness. Society expected success and resilience from them, but did not always take an interest in their inner world. Because of this, men could feel lonely and misunderstood.

To cope with this, you need to understand what is happening and find a new way. To start, you need to honestly answer yourself three questions:

      - How strongly do I feel lonely?

      - Do I have signs of depression: loss of interest in life, fatigue, poor sleep, poor appetite or irritability?

      - Have I had thoughts that life has no meaning, or thoughts of suicide? Admitting this can be difficult, but it is an important step.

If you answered "yes" to at least one of these questions, it is important not to postpone dealing with the problem.

Then you need to understand what exactly has changed and why you feel bad. It may be related to work, money, relationships or something else. Understanding the cause is the first step toward solving it.

After that you need to find something new that will bring you joy and satisfaction. It can be a hobby, helping other people — volunteering, taking care of your health, or something else. The main thing is to find what will make you happy.

It is important to remember that every day you should do something that will affirm your worth, Berezhnoy emphasized. This can be self-care, communication with loved ones, or honoring your feelings.

Thus, you can change your life without abandoning your principles. The main thing is to be willing to change and to believe in yourself, even when everything seems difficult.
