Police detained a Nizhny Novgorod resident with drugs hidden in his socks.

      12 November 2025 10:15 Incidents. In the Avtozavodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod, police officers detained a 29-year-old man who was found to be carrying more than two dozen packets of a narcotic substance. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region.

      It all happened near one of the buildings on Yuzhnoye Highway. When the man spotted narcotics officers, he tried to get rid of a small package wrapped in blue insulating tape. However, the officers stopped him and conducted a personal search.

      During the search, officers found another 23 identical packets on the detainee, who, it turned out, had a prior conviction. He had been hiding them in his socks.

      Experts tested several of them and determined that they contained a synthetic narcotic — methadone. The total weight of the seized substance amounted to 1.174 grams.

      A criminal case has been opened in connection with this. The man is accused of attempted illegal sale (trafficking) of narcotics on a large scale.

      The detainee is currently in custody. He faces up to 15 years in prison.

      Earlier it was reported that drugs disguised as chocolate balls were being smuggled into Correctional Colony No. 20 in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
