A network of fast electric charging stations covers 21 districts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. This was reported to NTA-Privolzhye by the regional Ministry of Energy and Housing and Communal Services.
The ministry noted that from 2022 to 2024, 125 fast charging stations were installed under the federal project "Electric Vehicle and Hydrogen Vehicle." Each of them has a capacity of 150 kW. The network covers 21 districts of the region, including key industrial and tourist centers, as well as sections of federal and regional highways. All charging stations were installed with state support.
In addition, the region also has other charging stations — both fast and slow types — installed by private investors without using budget funds. Such charging stations are usually located in public places: in parking lots, at shopping centers and hotels. Owners use them either as their main business or as an additional option for customers.
From 2022 to 2024 investors could receive subsidies from federal and regional budgets. These funds partially compensated the costs of purchasing equipment and connecting to power grids. Participants were selected on a competitive basis after project implementation. The total amount of funding for the entire period exceeded 265 million rubles.
Since 2025 subsidies have been provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia as part of the federal project "Production of Innovative Transport." This year a new charging station appeared in the city of Pavlovo. The investor has already submitted an application to participate in the selection for receiving a subsidy.
The size of the compensation is calculated individually — depending on the cost of the equipment and the expenses for its connection. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia will finish reviewing applications by 24 November 2025.
The regional Ministry of Energy and Housing and Communal Services also noted that so far there is no information about plans to install new charging stations in 2026. Applications from investors are accepted on a regular basis. At the same time, the ministry emphasized its readiness to assist all investors on equal terms in connecting facilities to the power grids.
It was previously reported that almost 52% of Russians would like to drive electric cars. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
