A further 163 million rubles will be allocated for the construction of a tunnel in the Pochainsky Ravine.

      Amendments related to financing the construction of a tunnel in the area of the Pochainsky Ravine are proposed to be made to Nizhny Novgorod's budget draft for 2025 and the planned period of 2026–2027. This was reported by Yuri Mochalkin, director of the city's Department of Finance, at a meeting of the city duma's joint commission on budgetary, financial and tax policy and municipal economy, a correspondent for NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" reports.

      According to him, the changes are based on letters of guarantee from the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. As part of co-financing from the regional budget, it is proposed to increase both the revenue and expenditure sides of the city budget through intergovernmental transfers.

      In particular, the construction of the tunnel at 1a, Architect Kharitonov Street will receive additional funding: 40 million rubles in 2025, 59.9 million rubles in 2026, and 63.2 million rubles in 2027. The city's share of co-financing will be 0.1%.

      The total amount of funds allocated for the project's implementation over three years will exceed 163 million rubles.

      Deputy Maria Kuznetsova asked whether the construction timeline coincides with the financing schedule. Tatiana Geraskina, director of the Department of Construction and Major Repairs, answered in the affirmative. According to her, a contract is being signed this year. "And the completion date is 2027," she said.

      Recall that the 100-meter tunnel will connect both parts of the ravine, passing under the Lykova dam. The work is part of the creation of a terraced park, construction of which began at the end of 2023. Work was planned to be completed by November 2025, but in October the authorities said that the deadlines would be adjusted.

      It was also reported that an additional 111.5 million rubles from the city's own funds will be allocated to the construction of the terraced park in the Pochainsky Ravine.
