A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has been found guilty of unauthorized access to computer information and violation of the confidentiality of correspondence. This was reported by the press service of the regional office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
It was noted that the court handed down the sentence based on evidence collected by the investigator of the investigative department for the city of Bor.
As the investigation and the court determined, in 2024 the man, at the request of an unidentified person, gained remote access to another citizen's personal account on the Gosuslugi portal. Having gained access to personal data, he used it to log into a mobile subscriber's account, where he copied the call detail records.
Without the consent of the information owner, these data were passed to a third party. At the same time, the defendant in the criminal case never received the promised reward for his actions.
The violation was uncovered by operational officers of the FSB for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The court sentenced the man to a fine of 90,000 rubles. In addition, he is prohibited from engaging in certain activities for two years.
Earlier it was reported that in October officers of the FSB of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region stopped the activities of two Nizhny Novgorod residents who were selling personal data illegally downloaded from various databases and internet resources, including copies of passports, SNILS numbers, INN, driver's licenses and other information enabling identification.
