Nizhny Novgorod schoolchildren will be able to choose their future profession on an interactive portal.
The educational convention "Country of Professionals," whose goal is to help schoolchildren in the Nizhny Novgorod Region choose a profession, is being implemented by Minin University. More than 1,600 young people have already actively participated in the project, which became possible thanks to a grant from the all‑Russian public‑state movement for children and youth "Movement of the First."
"The gaming portal pro.mininuniver.ru was created by the university on the basis of psychological and pedagogical research; it is now being actively tested in other regions, and was also presented as part of the National Abilympics Championship that began at the end of October in Moscow. In total, by the end of November our project will reach 2,500 students from Nizhny Novgorod schools in in‑person format," said Minin University Rector Viktor Sdobnyakov.
At the first stage of the project, students become acquainted with the game‑based career guidance service. In "Country of Professionals" there are 10 cities — each corresponding to a direction of modern professions: Mathematical and Computer Sciences; Arts and Culture; Physical Education and Sports; Natural Sciences; Engineering and Technical Sciences; Social Sciences; Health Care and Medical Sciences; Agriculture and Agricultural Sciences; Education and Pedagogical Sciences; and the Humanities.
Each participant visits the 10 "cities" on the website, completing tasks from the "masters." Based on the results, participants receive passports in which psychologists and career counselors assign them to spheres of interest according to the results of the completed tasks. For each participant an electronic map of personal professional development potential is created with detailed recommendations and individual trajectories.
The next stage is an introduction to professions. Schoolchildren attend career‑guidance master classes in the various professional directions led by teachers from all faculties of Minin University, familiarizing themselves with the university's infrastructure and training opportunities.
In each career‑guidance direction, key events run in parallel as a system to consolidate the knowledge gained about the specifics of the professions studied: a mathematical hackathon; phygital sports competitions; the "My Future Profession" video contest; the "ECOcompass" eco‑route contest; a Techno‑party; the robotics festival "Robofest"; a regional ethno‑dictation; the "Focus on Health" social advertising contest; a forum of psychological and pedagogical classes; and others.
"The students learn to create a positive educational environment, discuss methods of motivation, individual approaches and support. Our teachers consult parents and school teachers at all stages, helping to unlock each child's potential," notes Viktor Sdobnyakov.
The key final event will be the Nizhny Novgorod regional festival "ProfStart," which will include a fair of employment opportunities from organizations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, a professions‑themed quest, and motivational meetings with successful people from various fields.
