The final decision on the possible discharge of Anatoly Moskvin, known as the "dollmaker," will be made not by a medical commission but by a court. This was reported by Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of the MIA "Stacionar-press," citing a psychiatrist he knows.
Earlier, media reported that the necropolist is being prepared for discharge from the psychiatric hospital. Moskvin has been under compulsory treatment for 13 years after being found guilty and legally insane. During that time his condition has noticeably deteriorated. The man has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
"Doctors can issue a commission conclusion, but the final word belongs to the judicial instance, so it is premature to draw any conclusions yet," the medical expert noted on his Telegram channel.
Nikonov also stressed that discharge from a psychiatric inpatient facility does not mean the diagnosis is lifted. In most cases the form of supervision is simply changed. For example, the patient may be transferred to outpatient follow-up at his place of residence.
