A fake is gaining traction online claiming that residents of Nizhny Novgorod will be banned from taking sick leave even if they fall ill. Aleksey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of the MIA "Stacionar-press," debunked these rumors on his Telegram channel and explained the new procedure for issuing sick leave.

It turned out that the essence of the changes is not a tightening but an expansion of the list of reasons for which one can receive a sick-leave certificate.

The grounds now officially include cases such as caring for a sick relative, undergoing medical rehabilitation, treatment of socially significant diseases, and undergoing renal replacement therapy.

"But no one has excluded and no one intends to exclude the issuance of sick-leave certificates due to illness, injury, poisoning, or any other condition that prevents one from performing work duties," he emphasized.

Recall that employed residents of Nizhny Novgorod who have taken sick leave four times within six months will be referred to a medical commission upon the fifth request.
