      On September 18, the military-patriotic gathering in memory of Guards Major Yevgeny Smolin solemnly opened at the A.P. Gaidar Children's Health and Educational Center of the Kulebaki urban district. The event is timed to two significant dates — the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). View photographs.

      The opening brought together young patriots, instructors, representatives of educational institutions, veterans' organizations, teachers and public figures. The ceremony began with a minute of silence in memory of the fallen heroes, after which participants honored the memory of Guards Major Yevgeny Smolin — a fellow countryman who endured the harsh trials of war and devoted his life to serving his Motherland.

      The military-patriotic gathering will serve as a platform for instilling in the younger generation a sense of duty, patriotism, love for the Fatherland and respect for history.

      Organizers emphasized that such gatherings are not merely training events, but an important part of the moral and civic education of youth.

      "To remember means to be worthy. Through memory we pass on to future generations the spirit of perseverance, courage and faith in the Motherland," project leaders noted.
