Society — The Ministry of Education is considering raising teachers' salaries across Russia. This was announced by the head of the agency, Sergey Kravtsov, during the Eastern Economic Forum, the "360" TV channel reports.

The minister stressed that teachers' salaries should be fair and transparent, and also that there are currently significant disparities in pay.

Kravtsov also noted that the Ministry of Education, together with the Ministry of Labour, is working to ensure that the average salary of teachers in the regions corresponds to or exceeds the average wage level across the country. According to him, a teacher's salary should depend on overall economic growth and increases in regional incomes.

Earlier, the leader of the A Just Russia — For Truth party, Sergey Mironov, proposed introducing a progressive pay system for teachers working one and a half or more full-time positions. He pointed to a shortage of several hundred thousand teachers in the education system, which is caused by heavy workloads and low pay. Mironov believes that raising salaries could significantly increase the attractiveness of the teaching profession and teachers' motivation.
