An apartment building in central Nizhny Novgorod will be seized from its owners.

      The administration of Nizhny Novgorod has adopted a decree on the seizure of apartment building No. 10 on Gogol Street together with the adjacent land plot. The corresponding document was published on the mayor's office website.

      The decree notes that the building was declared unsafe and subject to reconstruction back in 2021. Now the land plot of 1,039 square meters and all premises in the building will become municipal property. It should be noted that the building is a cultural heritage site.

      Owners of the premises will be sent a notice of seizure and will also be offered agreements that provide compensation based on a market valuation of the property. The preparation and signing of documents, as well as the registration of property rights, are assigned to the administration of the Nizhegorodsky District and the relevant departments.

      The seizure procedure will be accompanied by an assessment of the market value of the properties and the determination of the amount of compensation.

      Earlier it was reported that near the aforementioned building, on the territory bounded by Gogol, Nizhegorodskaya and Zalomova streets, a comprehensive development project is planned. Under the project the investor will build about 10,000 square meters of new housing and a modern polyclinic. Reconstruction of eight historical buildings is also planned, six of which will be restored and two moved and rebuilt at a new location.
