The Minister of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Mikhail Puchkov, answered questions on the air of the radio station "Komsomolskaya Pravda." He emphasized that no significant changes are planned for the current school year that could radically affect the school life of young Nizhny Novgorod residents.
Last year there were some changes: the OBZh subject was transformed into OBZR (Fundamentals of Safety and Defense of the Motherland), and the labor subject returned to schools. No such innovations are expected this year; all subjects will remain in their previous format. However, the distribution of hours between history and social studies will change, with the main time being allocated to history.
"I would draw attention to the fact that from September 1 the internal work for schools is changing a lot," the minister emphasized.
In particular, a new order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation No. 704 has been issued, which regulates the allocation of time for tests. According to the order, no more than 10% of instructional time for each subject should be allocated to tests. This was done to reduce the burden on students.
"Students will definitely be happy, yes," Mikhail Puchkov stated.
He also said that from August 1 to 15 the region's schools underwent acceptance inspections, which were completed successfully: buildings and engineering systems were checked, new textbooks were purchased and delivered — all 788 schools are ready for the school year.
"All issues have been resolved, we are ready to start," said the head of the Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Education.
The interview also touched on other important topics, such as the opening of new schools, the repair of existing educational institutions, the training of teaching staff and the conduct of the Unified State Exam (USE).
