SocietyThe VMZ History Museum in Vyksa has expanded its set of adaptation tools for visitors with disabilities. New equipment was purchased as part of a project to develop the Resource Center for Sociocultural Inclusion with the support of the OMK-Participation charitable foundation and the Presidential Grants Foundation. This was reported by OMK's press service.

The museum now offers modern technical means: a printer for creating tactile graphics, tablets with video guides in Russian Sign Language and audio guides with typhlocommentaries, an induction FM system, as well as evacuation chairs and mobile ramps.

The Swell Form printer allows quick production of embossed images and texts. The technology of heating ink on special paper makes information accessible to blind visitors. Such materials can be used repeatedly.

The portable induction system "Istok A5" transmits sound directly to hearing aids and cochlear implants, eliminating background noise and improving speech intelligibility. This is especially important for visitors with hearing impairments.

Tablets with videos in Russian Sign Language and typhlocommentaries will help hard-of-hearing and visually impaired guests better navigate the exhibits. And mobile ramps and evacuation chairs will provide comfort and safety for people in wheelchairs.

According to Karina Krokhina, head of the Resource Center for Sociocultural Inclusion in Vyksa, the new equipment is already in active use. For example, a tactile version of the exhibition "Portraits, People, Persons," prepared jointly with the Good Museum of the Tretyakov Gallery, was created using the printer. Now blind visitors can explore images of portraits and the founders of the Vyksa factories.

"Almost every week groups of tourists from neighboring regions come to us, and we see how in demand the new tools are. They make our museum even more open and accessible," Karina Krokhina said.

The project to develop the Resource Center began in spring 2025. Within its framework it is planned to create a comprehensive accessible environment in the museum, receive at least ten inclusive tourist groups and share experience in adapting cultural events with other institutions.NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
