Production at a Nizhny Novgorod metalworking enterprise will increase by a third thanks to the federal project "Labor Productivity".

      Experts from the Regional Competence Center (RCC), together with employees of LLC Production Complex Enterprise "PIK" from Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region, summed up the interim results of implementing the tools of the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy."

      Specialists from the Regional Competence Center work at enterprises participating in the federal project for six months. After three months an Information Day is held, during which RCC experts sum up the work done and present plans for the second part of the project.

      The company from Kstovo specializes in metal processing and applying coatings to metals.

      According to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Maksim Cherkasov, the service of hot-dip galvanizing on toll-supplied raw materials was chosen as the pilot flow at the enterprise. These services account for 17% of the company's total revenue.

      "RCC specialists analyzed the company's processes and identified 21 'bottlenecks' in the flow. In particular, excessive time is spent locating the required order, workstations are suboptimally organized, and there are deviations from the production plan. Solutions were proposed and an action plan developed for each of these items. Implementing the RCC specialists' recommendations will make it possible to increase output by 31 percent by the time the project is completed," Maksim Cherkasov said.

      RCC experts also trained 11 company employees in lean technologies and are preparing two internal trainers who will later be able to train their colleagues independently.

      Currently, nine companies in the Nizhny Novgorod Region specializing in metal processing and metal coatings are implementing the tools of the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy."

      The national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy," initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, is the main instrument for forming a new growth model. It includes federal projects aimed at developing small and medium-sized enterprises, increasing labor productivity, boosting investment activity, low-carbon development, and developing the state system of statistics and forecasting.
