Nizhny Novgorod residents spent over 12 million rubles on alcohol addiction treatment.

      Society: Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region have become noticeably more active in fighting alcohol dependence. According to the analytical company RNC Pharma, the region ranked among the top ten regions for sales of medications that help combat alcohol cravings.

      As noted by healthcare representative Alexey Nikonov, from January to June 2025, over 13,000 packages of such medications were sold in pharmacies across the region. Nizhny Novgorod residents spent more than 12 million rubles on them.

      In the nationwide ranking, the region took ninth place in terms of the number of packages purchased and the total amount spent at pharmacies.

      Compared to the first half of 2024, demand for these medications increased by 41% in monetary terms. That is, people are not only buying such medicines more often but also opting for more expensive options. However, the range of available remedies remains quite limited.

      Looking at the overall picture across the country, Russians purchased over 553,000 packages of alcohol addiction medications in the first six months of 2025. In total, these cost consumers nearly 540 million rubles.

      It was previously reported that residents of Nizhny Novgorod are increasingly purchasing hangover remedies.
