
Two women from Nizhny Novgorod suspected of possessing large quantities of drugs

In the Leninsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, a criminal case has been opened against two young women suspected of illegal drug trafficking, reports the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Nizhny Novgorod Region.
According to investigators, the 17- and 19-year-old women came under police scrutiny on July 16. On that day, officers from the drug control department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia conducted operational activities at an apartment on Lenin Avenue, where the suspects lived.
During the search of the premises, packages containing a substance with narcotic properties were found. Experts' assessments confirmed that the total weight of the seized substance exceeded 2.9 grams, which qualifies as a large quantity.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of Russia — illegal acquisition, storage, and transportation of narcotic drugs in large quantities.
Investigators are continuing their work to establish all the circumstances of the case. Evidence is being collected, and the causes and conditions that may have contributed to the crime are being investigated.
The department reminded that illegal drug trafficking entails criminal liability. The penalty for which includes imprisonment. Additionally, it is emphasized that the distribution of such substances causes serious harm to health and poses a threat to life.
It was previously reported that nearly 1.5 kg of mephedrone was seized from drug dealers in Nizhny Novgorod.
