Economics Four farming enterprises from the Nizhny Novgorod region have become winners of a grant competition for the development of family farms. The total amount of state support amounted to 99.5 million rubles. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food Resources.

The funding will be used for the construction of new facilities and the purchase of modern equipment. As noted by the head of the department, Nikolai Denisov, family farms play an important role in the agri-industrial complex and are not inferior in importance to large enterprises. According to him, grants allow for the modernization of production, increasing the volume and quality of products.

The maximum size of a single grant is 30 million rubles. The winners were selected by a regional commission based on several criteria: priority of the activity, availability of agricultural machinery, livestock, production sites, agricultural land, and membership in agricultural cooperatives.

Among the winners is entrepreneur Vladislav Smetanin from the Varnavinsky district. His farming enterprise specializes in meat livestock. In 2021, he received a "Agrostarter" grant, which he used to purchase equipment and pedigreed cattle. Currently, the farmer is expanding production and building a farm for 350 head with a fattening area.

KFU leader Alexander Prokhorov from the Vorotynsky district plans to build a cow barn for 120 head of cattle in free-range housing.

Farmer Roman Shcherban from the Dalnekonstantinovsky district will purchase equipment for milk processing and feed production.

KFU head Kodzhaev Ulfat Isakhan ogly from the Shatkovsky district will allocate funds for the purchase of a milk production facility.

The family farm support grant program has been active in the Nizhny Novgorod region since 2012. Over this period, more than 100 farm projects have received financial assistance.

Consultations on measures of state support can be obtained on the website of the Information and Consulting Center of the agro-industrial complex.

It was previously reported that 18 Nizhny Novgorod farmers received "Agrostarter" grants totaling 93 million rubles.
