      Community An outdoor inspection of landscaped courtyard areas was conducted in the Prioksky district of Nizhny Novgorod. The courtyards on Zhukova Street, 16, and Gagarin Avenue, 200, were repaired.

      The visit was attended by Mayor Yuri Shalabayev, district head Mikhail Shatilov, city council deputy Vladimir Podydymnikov-Gordeev, and local residents.

      It is worth noting that this year, a comprehensive improvement of 275 courtyards is being carried out in Nizhny Novgorod. This is 54 more projects than last year and nearly ten times more than five years ago.

      The work is coordinated by district administrations, management companies, homeowners' associations, and relevant city departments. The city authorities state that, despite tight deadlines and increased scope, the courtyard improvements are proceeding according to schedule.

      The comprehensive repairs include paving of driveways and sidewalks, installation of curb stones, and arrangement of parking pockets.

      Previously, when designing the buildings, the current number of cars was not taken into account, resulting in residents often parking on lawns. This leads to dirt in the interseasonal periods and complicates cleaning in winter. Now, as part of the improvements, parking zones are being created in agreement with residents to ensure comfort for both motorists and pedestrians.

      Andrey Zhitnikov, director of the Department of Transport and Road Management, reported that two municipal driveways are under construction in the Prioksky district—on Gagarin Avenue, 180, and Arsenyev Street, 2.

      At the first site, 80% of the work has been completed, with over 2,000 square meters of asphalt laid and curbs installed. Work at Arsenyev Street is fully complete: 580 square meters of driveway and 247 square meters of sidewalk have been asphalted. In total, the city plans to organize 40 driveways, with completion scheduled for September.

      Mikhail Shatilov mentioned that 17 courtyards are being improved this year in the district. According to him, driveways are being widened so that cars do not obstruct pedestrians, and winter road clearing can be done effectively with equipment. All work is planned to be completed on time.

      It was previously reported that 13 courtyards will be improved in the Kanavinsky district in 2025.
