Rospotrebnadzor named the Nizhny Novgorod water bodies where swimming is allowed

Sanitary control of water bodies designated for summer recreation continues in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The regional Rospotrebnadzor authority conducts scheduled water quality inspections to ensure the safety of swimmers.
Specialists from the agency have conducted laboratory studies and declared 12 water bodies safe for swimming. Water samples were analyzed for microbiological, virological, and parasitological indicators.
Sampling is carried out in areas of mass recreation where the highest concentration of people is observed. Monitoring is conducted regularly throughout the entire swimming season.
As of July 18, 2025, the following water bodies meet sanitary requirements:
- Lake of the Park of Culture and Rest, Phase 2, Molodezhny Avenue (Avtozavodsky District);
- Both beaches of Silikatnoe Lake (Leninsky District);
- Both beaches of Sortirovochnoye Lake (Kanavinsky District);
- Lunskoe Lake and Pesticnoe Lake (Sormovsky District);
- Svetloyar Lake, beach on Mokrousova Street (Sormovsky District);
- Verkhnee Lake, Shelokovsky Farm (Prigorodsky District);
- Tretie Lake, Shelokovsky Farm (Sovetsky District);
- Verkhniy Pond, three beaches (Vykhsky Urban District);
- "U Krutoy Gory" Lake (Bolshoy Borodinsky town);
- Svyatoe Lake, Pushkino Settlement (Dzerzhinsk city);
- Volga River (Lyskovo town).
Rospotrebnadzor conducts an annual comprehensive inspection of water bodies used for swimming at the beginning of summer. Based on the results, a sanitary-epidemiological conclusion is issued regarding compliance with established standards.
It was previously reported that a resident of Nizhny Novgorod temporarily lost hearing after swimming in a local river.
