It all began with a phone call supposedly from a neighbor — the woman reported that the front door and the building's intercom had been replaced. Under this pretext, the pensioner was convinced to dictate a code from an SMS, necessary for access to the system. Subsequently, the man received calls from individuals claiming to be representatives of various control organizations. The scammers assured him that the previous call was from criminals and that his finances, property, and personal data were now under threat. For over a week, the fraudsters psychologically coerced the elderly man into following their instructions. He transferred money to "safe" accounts and handed over a large sum in cash to a courier. The total loss amounted to 14,265,000 rubles — the pensioner withdrew funds from his bank and investment accounts. The police have initiated a criminal case.
