Society Online sets for self-application of dental fillings are gaining popularity. Initially, they were used by cosplayers to create their costumes, for example, to make vampire fangs. But now, these materials are also being used for "treating" teeth at home, as explained by the editor-in-chief of MIА "Stationar-Press" Alexey Nikonov in his Telegram channel.

Dentists warn that using such kits can be dangerous. Temporary fillings made of thermoplastic and food-grade polyamide can cause toxic reactions and allergies, and they do not have any healing effect.

According to Anatoly Sidorin, chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod regional dentistry and head of the oral health specialists of the regional Ministry of Health, such products do not replace comprehensive treatment.

"This is not an alternative to dental treatment. Simply taking and filling a carious cavity won't work – it won't stop the decay of enamel and dentin and will inevitably lead to complications such as pulpitis, periodontitis, inflammation of the periodontal ligament, up to tooth extraction," he noted.

Moreover, the method of applying such fillings is questionable. They are recommended to be softened in hot water and then placed into the tooth cavity. However, doctors use materials that harden under the influence of special light or air, ensuring reliable fixation and safety.

Earlier, residents of Nizhny Novgorod were reminded when to undergo screening for STIs. NIА "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
