      The "G.U.R.U." Analytical Center, in partnership with the Telegram news agency "TeleStream," released a new edition of the study "Telegram Index: June 2025," assessing the effectiveness of public politicians through Telegram.

      The specialists analyzed how often and in what context the heads of Russian regions were mentioned in Russian-language Telegram channels. The study is based on data from a neural network developed by the center’s analysts, which records all mentions of key political figures in the messenger. Particular attention in the report is paid to governors and the activity of their personal channels on Telegram.

      Following June, Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin ranked among the top leaders. His name was mentioned in Telegram channels 16,464 times, placing him in the country’s top five most quoted governors. He ranked first in the Volga Federal District.

      Expert of ISSE and member of the Russian Association of Political Consultants Roman Permyakov commented on the study results, noting an "unexpected trend." Despite the summer decline in internet activity and mobile internet outages, the total number of mentions of regional leaders in Telegram increased in June compared to May.

      Analysts attribute the heightened interest in Gleb Nikitin to major federal events held in Nizhny Novgorod, such as the CIPR forum, attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and the XII Russia-Belarus Regions Forum with the participation of Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko.

      Both events significantly boosted the governor’s media activity on Telegram.

      His initiatives, which received widespread attention in the messenger, also contributed to the increased interest. These include launching a digital "support measures calculator for families with children" and proposing a complete ban on vapes.

      Additional attention was drawn by reports of drone attack attempts on Nizhny Novgorod Region, comments on which were provided by the regional head.

      Among federal Telegram channels that most frequently mentioned Nikitin are "RT in Russian," "Ranshe vsekh. Nu pochti," "Operational Briefings," "SILOVIKI," and "Pул №3."

      At the regional level, the most active channels include "VOLGA.brief" (41 mentions), "Nizhny Novgorod Arrow" (28), "My Nizhny Novgorod" (25), "RBC Nizhny Novgorod" (22), and "Nizhny Novgorod Pravda" (18).
