Four families from Nizhny Novgorod received nearly 100 million rubles for farm development.
Funds will be allocated for the construction of new facilities and the purchase of equipment.
Four farmers from Nizhny Novgorod received grants totaling 99.5 million rubles for the development of family farms. The funds will be used for building new structures and acquiring equipment, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
“In modern agriculture, family farms are no less important to the agro-industrial complex than large enterprises. The grant for the development of family farms is not just financial support; it is an investment in the future of our agriculture. Grant support allows family farms to expand or modernize production, acquire new equipment, which means increasing volume and improving the quality of products,” said Nikolai Denisov, Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The maximum grant for the development of a family farm is 30 million rubles. The regional commission selected projects based on defense and evaluation criteria: priority of the activity, ownership or lease of agricultural land, presence of farm animals, production facilities, agricultural machinery, membership in SPC, and others.
One of the grant recipients is individual entrepreneur Vladislav Smetanin from Varnavin district.
“In 2020, due to the pandemic, I had a lot of free time. My brother and I decided to engage in agriculture. We bought a tractor, attached and mounted equipment. Since our region is northern, we chose to develop meat livestock. In 2021, with the help of specialists from the Regional Agro-Industrial Complex Information and Consulting Center, we developed a business plan for meat livestock development. This helped us win the 'Agrostarter' grant. We used over four million rubles to purchase agricultural machinery and Hereford cattle. Now we are expanding. We have already started building a farm for beef cattle with a capacity of 350 heads and a fattening area,” said the farm owner.
Another winner, Alexander Prokhorov from Vorotynsky district, plans to build a herd of 120 cattle without tethering.
Rural entrepreneur Roman Shcherban from Dalnekonstantinovsky district will purchase equipment for milk processing, feed preparation, and others.
Ulfat Isahan oglu Kodzhaev from Shakhovsky district will acquire a milk production facility.
