A criminal case has been opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region regarding the death of four people as a result of a road accident in the Pilninsky district.

      The investigator of the Sergach Interdistrict Investigative Department of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules resulting in the reckless death of two or more persons). Preliminary information indicates that on July 17, 2025, a man driving a UAZ vehicle drove off the dirt road into a river. As a result of the traffic incident, three passengers and the driver of a passenger car died. Investigators are conducting a set of necessary measures to establish all causes and circumstances of the accident. Investigative and other procedural actions are being carried out to collect and document evidence. The progress of the criminal investigation is under the control of the head of the investigative department.
